Neath Port Talbot Local Nature Partnership has updated its Nature Recovery Actions for 2026, with support from Catrin Evans Consultancy.

The updated actions set out practical priorities for protecting and restoring nature across the county. These include restoring peatlands, ponds, rivers and species-rich grasslands; strengthening woodland, hedgerow and coastal habitat networks; supporting swift, water vole and rare plant recovery; reducing pollution and invasive species; and expanding nature training, biological recording and community involvement.

Alongside the actions, we have introduced Nature Recovery Principles. These are not individual projects, but shared ways of working that the Partnership and its members sign up to. They help ensure that nature recovery is guided by evidence and good ecological practice—for example, avoiding inappropriate tree planting, preventing the spread of invasive species and recognising greenwashing.

Together, the updated actions and principles provide a clearer framework for partnership working and help focus resources on changes that deliver genuine, lasting benefits for biodiversity and ecosystem resilience in Neath Port Talbot.

These actions can be viewed on each of the habitat pages or you can download them all in one document below:
