Hidden Life of the Woods: Discovering Woodland Invertebrates

Join entomologists Liam Olds and Christian Owen for a hands-on training day exploring the hidden world of woodland invertebrates at Cwm Du Glen & Glanrhyd Plantation Local Nature Reserve.

This session will introduce participants to the wide diversity of invertebrate life that thrives within ancient and plantation woodland habitats.

We will sieve leaf litter, search beneath logs, and examine decaying wood, uncovering a fascinating variety of beetles, woodlice, millipedes, spiders, and other woodland specialists.

Participants will learn how to identify key groups, understand their ecological roles, and gain insight into woodland management practices that support invertebrate diversity.
